Stop shoplifting of medical equipment

Medical equipment and supplies "walk away" from health care facilities and are resold on the private market. Can we embed RFID tags on them/in them to prevent theft, like in retail stores in the U.S.? The tags would have to survive autoclaves for some equipment, and the sensors would have to work even with power interruptions.

Could also work for critical assets in other sectors, or even give real-time info on when equipment was last used to alert management that it's not working.
